This work presents a rich history of the formative path of a black student. To understand, the process of training a science teacher in the licentiate course at the Federal University of São Paulo. The report brings a high social density that leads the reader to the narrow, intellectually stimulating passages that this trainee had to go through. More than stories, it is a life story that requires the reader to distance himself from his commonplace. The story presents deep situations and moments that suggest a careful reading. The book Pedagogy of Autonomy: knowledge necessary for educational practice contributes with a thematic axis – autonomy as a search. And the book Teacher Knowledge and Professional Training contributes to understanding the combination of various types of knowledge that serve as tools for the trainee. The training reports oscillate between facts and analyses. Being a “problem-student” or being a “solution-student” are issues that permeate the narrative, allowing us to reflect that we can have that “student-possibility” – a concept elaborated from another book Teaching to Transgress. Such conclusions are analyzed and debated in the reports, although it is a text that demands a lot from the reader's ability.
