A análise laboratorial
encontrados no ELISA-3ª.
Purpose: The objective of this study was to detect the prevalence of hepatitis C in the units of dialysis in Maceió. Methods: 569 patients with Doença Renal Crônica (DRC) in regular program of hemodiálise (HD) in 6 clinics of dialysis had been enclosed. The laboratorial analysis consisted of the research of the antibody of the virus of hepatitis C (anti-HCV) ELISA-3ª (imuno-enzymatic assay of 3ª generation) in the patients. In the positive cases for anti-HCV, reversa followed of the amplification of cDNA in chain RT- PCR was carried through the transcription (HCV-RNA). Results: 66/569 patients with positive sorologia had detected themselves, what she would correspond to a prevalence of 11,6%, however, when we carry through the RT-PCR in the patients with anti-HCV positive, the percentage of the joined viremia is of 39,5% (26/66). Conclusions: We conclude that the RT-PCR, for being an examination of bigger especificidade, must be used for the confirmation of positive results and verification of false-positives found in the ELISA-3ª. However, anti-HCV, by its sensitivity and low cost, must be carried through enters the DRC carriers as test for screening.
