Objective: to measure and correlate the resilience and meaning of hospital nurses’ work in the context of the covid19 pandemic. Method: a descriptive and correlational study, carried out from June to November 2021, using the ConnorDavidson Resilience Scale for Brazil (CDRISC25BRASIL) and the Meaning of Work Inventory (IST) instruments, with value and descriptive types. The sample consisted of 164 nurses from two private hospitals in the city of São Paulo, SP, Brazil. Data analysis was performed using Pearson’s correlation, KruskalWallis, Student’s t Levene’s ShapiroWilk normality, ANOVA and Hochberg tests, with p<0.05. To interpret correlation size, the classification proposed by Cohen was used. Results: the results show an average of 76.98 for resilience and there was a significant correlation between resilience and meaning of work with value types: “Source of achievement and economic independence” (r 0.657); “Expression of respect and welcome” (r. 0.626); “Selfaffirmation” (r. 0.591); “Representative of hardness” (r. 0.185); and “Source of challenge, responsibility and support” (r.0.485). And with descriptive types: “Feeling exhausted and pressured” (r. 0.213); “Facing demands and hardship” (r.0.183); “Being responsible (people)” (r. 0.478); “Challenge yourself” (r. 0.505); “Grow economically” (r. 0.524); “Feeling pleasure and protection” (r. 0.618); “Contribute socially and be assisted” (r. 0.648); “Being recognized” (r. 0.602); and “Being equitably rewarded” (r. 0.477). Conclusion: there was a correlation between resilience and the meaning of work, considering the evaluative and descriptive types. It is noteworthy that resilience had the potential to help nurses successfully adjust to adversities even in the context of the covid19 pandemic. Therefore, managers can promote a positive organizational culture by developing programs to help nurses become and remain resilient.
