Introduction: Physiotherapy, among the professions related to health care, is perhaps one of the closest to health itself: life and its quality. For this reason, schools responsible for undergraduate training of physiotherapists should be concerned with education but also with the assessment of the stude nt at all times on the graduation course. National and international literature research shows few validated instruments for the implementation of this process, especially if one considers the characteristics of supervised clerkship. In most Brazilian schools of physiotherapy, this is the main time for learning future professional practice. The Australian literature presents the "Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP)", an in strument tested and validated in the English language for the assessment of students on clinic stage, on basis of the competencies expected of professional future. Objectives : This work aims at mapping, in the opinion of supervisors of clinical clerkship in physical therapy graduate programs, the understanding of the pedagogical-didactic function of APP; verifying the applicability of the translated instrument for the evaluation of supervised practice in the context of undergraduate physiotherapy and identifying contributions of the clinical supervisors for improving the assessment instrument for Brazilian reality. Methods: Nine teachers involved in clinical supervision of seven universities in São Paulo were interviewed. Data were analyzed by means of proximity of meanings, taking content analysis as a qualitative methodology. Results and Discussion: Teachers interviewed demonstrated a clear understanding of the philosophy and application of the instrument, and provided suggestions to adapt the same to the Brazilian reality, especially with regard to the rights of the patient and their consent and educator effective expression in future instrument validation. There was no difficulty in using the rating scale suggested by the author of the instrum ent, but it was identified the need for an adequate final score to the Brazilian system. Conclusions and Future Perspectives : The instrument can be applied, in clinical supervisors reality, emphasizing the need for specific and minor adaptations. Respondents were unanimous in indicating the chance of instrument validation for the Portuguese language, in order to use it in the objective assessment of competencies to be developed by the student of physiotherapy in clinic al clerkship.
