A aproximação empreendida junto a
Hospital associations when facing changes and transformations which are occurring in the political-economic and social context, new ideas and new concepts occur, as a result from this adaptation. Inserted in this setting, the nursing area has been searching for new paths that could surpass the challenges found and, which could bring back the value for the nursing staff. This thesis is a case study, oriented by a qualitative and quantitative approach, aiming to analyze the Continuing Education Program of the Public State Hospital – “Francisco Morato de Oliveira” (HSPE), in the city of São Paulo, and to raise under interdisciplinary perspective subsidies to improve it. A semi-structured interviews were performed with the program’s coordinators and a questionnaire with the nurses. The later consisted of open and multiple choice questions, applied to 100 nurses of the units and who were working in the hospital for at least one year. For analysis of data, the Content Analysis was used. The approximation with the program’s coordinators and nurses allowed important findings on the dynamics involving the educational practice. The results were suggestive of several fundamental aspects for discussions and reflections on the educational process development in nursing, identifying challenges to be surpassed by the group, regarding the following dimensions: conceptual, methodological, contextual and politics. It was concluded that to convert the nursing professional’s education into a permanent process, we must take into account the daily work as the essence of an educational process, knowledge source and object of transformation favoring collective and interdisciplinary participation.
