The study aims to comprehend the social and cultural conditions in a specific context that constitute the memory of a group of elderly individuals, drawing on Maurice Halbwachs' studies on collective memory and Adorno and Horkheimer's concept of cultural industry. It analyzes the potential repercussions of these aspects on their lives and examines the influence of this constitution on their daily routines. The research constructs a path by linking these themes and proposing reflections that facilitate a dialogue within the social sciences from a care perspective, using an approach inspired by Meihy's oral history methodology through in-depth interviews with the elderly. Five interviews were conducted with elderly individuals, of which three were selected for analysis and discussion in the study. The methodological approach followed a qualitative perspective, with analyses based on observations and personal reflections, supported by the theoretical framework provided by the texts identified in the bibliographic research conducted on the Scielo and Virtual Health Library (BVS) databases. The interview results point out, through exploring individual stories, the interconnection between collective memory, mass culture, and personal experiences, emphasizing the importance of support networks for the well-being of the elderly population. The research contributes to understanding the challenges and opportunities of this interaction, advocating for the preservation of cultural traditions and a balance between technological advances and social values. It is concluded that valuing the stories of the elderly enriches our understanding of collective history, fostering discussions and social interventions for a healthier and more meaningful aging process.
