O imperativo e a modalidade na construção da solidariedade em textos em inglês do gênero tutorial de informática: um olhar sistêmico-funcional

Esta pesquisa busca investigar as escolhas léxico-gramaticais de imperativo e de modalidade na construção da solidariedade em textos do gênero Tutorial de Informática, sob a ótica sistêmico-funcional, com vistas a posterior uso no ensino de inglês, em um curso superior tecnológico. Nossa proposta é dar suporte para a compreensão de textos sobre as linguagens de programação C, Java e Python que fazem parte do universo acadêmico, profissional e sociocultural dos alunos do curso de Análise e Desenvolvimento de Sistemas (ADS). Investigamos a questão dos gêneros textuais (MARTIN; ROSE, 2008; ROSE; MARTIN, 2012; HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014) e sua realização pelo registro, segundo Martin e Rose (2008), Eggins (2004) e Rose e Martin (2012). Em seguida, abordamos conceitos da Pedagogia com base em Gêneros da Escola de Sydney - PGES (MARTIN; ROSE, 2008, ROSE; MARTIN, 2012), que propõe a organização dos gêneros em famílias. Com base nessa proposta, inserimos o objeto de estudo desta pesquisa, o gênero Tutorial de Informática, na família dos Procedimentos. Estabelecemos como objetivos específicos (1) identificar a Estrutura Esquemática do gênero Tutorial de Informática, pertencente à família dos Procedimentos, a partir de seus propósitos comunicativos, etapas e fases, sob a ótica da PGES e (2) derivar do corpus de pesquisa, por meio do software AntConc (ANTHONY, 2022), a ocorrência de elementos léxico-gramaticais de imperativo e de modalidade, e a relação de solidariedade estabelecida entre autores e usuários, na execução de procedimentos para compreensão de textos de Tutoriais de Informática, segundo a Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014). As marcas léxico-gramaticais presentes nos textos analisados sinalizam os propósitos comunicativos do gênero textual, relacionando os resultados obtidos ao contexto de cultura em que são produzidos, explicitando o contexto de situação (Registro) e suas variáveis de Campo (atividade social sendo realizada nos textos), Relações (participantes e seus papéis sociais na interação com os Tutoriais) e Modo (papel desempenhado pela linguagem e como se organiza o texto em função dos propósitos comunicativos do gênero Procedimentos). Para atingir nossos objetivos, geramos um corpus de pesquisa composto de seis textos tutoriais em inglês, escritos nas linguagens de programação C, Java e Python, utilizadas pelos alunos do curso de ADS, de uma faculdade de tecnologia de São Paulo, analisados a partir de uma perspectiva de cunho qualiquantitativo (FLICK, 2009). As escolhas léxico-gramaticais presentes nas análises dos textos indicam as relações interpessoais que compõem o corpus com foco nos itens lexicais do modo imperativo e de modalidade. Os resultados revelam (i) que a Estrutura Esquemática dos tutoriais permite que eles sejam classificados como textos que instanciam o gênero de procedimentos e (ii) que as escolhas léxico-gramaticais predominam no modo imperativo para o comando das instruções, com alternância das funções de poder (EGGINS, 2004) entre os autores e os usuários dos Tutoriais de Informática, bem como a presença de operadores modais cumprindo, além de seu papel na modalização, atuar no equilíbrio entre os comandos e as instruções e na solidariedade entre produtores e usuários dos textos.
This research aims to investigate the use of imperative and modality in the construction of solidarity in texts of the computer tutorial genre from a systemic-functional point of view for computer science and subsequent use in the teaching of English in a technological higher education course. Our proposal is to support the understanding of texts about the C, Java and Python programming languages that are part of the academic, professional, and sociocultural universe of the students of the Systems Analysis and Development (ADS) course. We investigated the issue of textual genres from the perspective of the systemic-functional theory (MARTIN; ROSE, 2008; ROSE; MARTIN, 2012; HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014) and its realization through language mediated by Register, according to Martin and Rose (2008), Eggins (2004) and Rose and Martin (2012). Next, we present concepts of the Sydney School genre-based Pedagogy - SSGP (MARTIN; ROSE, 2008, ROSE; MARTIN, 2012), which proposes the clustering of genres in families. Based on this proposal, we insert the object of study of this research, the Computer Tutorial genre, in the Procedures family. We established as specific objectives: (1) identify the schematic structure of the computer tutorial genre, belonging to the Procedures family, from its communicative purposes, stages and phases, from the perspective of the SSGP and (2) derive from the research corpus, through the AntConc software (ANTHONY, 2022), the occurrence of lexicogrammatical elements of imperative and modality, and the relationship of solidarity established between authors and users, in the execution of procedures for understanding texts of the computer tutorial genre, according to Systemic-Functional Grammar (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014). The lexicogrammatical choices present in the tutorial texts signal the communicative purposes of this genre, relating the results obtained to the cultural context in which they are produced, explaining the context of situation (Register) and its Field (which social activity is being carried out in texts of the Tutorial genre), Tenor (who are the participants and their social roles in the interaction with the Tutorials) and Mode (what role language plays and how the text is organized according to the communicative purposes of the Procedures genre) variables. To achieve our objectives, we generated a research corpus composed of six tutorial texts in English, written in the programming languages C, Java and Python, used by the ADS course students, from a technology college in São Paulo, analyzed from a qualitative-quantitative research perspective (FLICK, 2009). The lexicogrammatical choices present in the analysis of the tutorial texts represent the established interpersonal relationships that make up the corpus with a focus on lexical items in the imperative mood and modality. The results reveal (i) that the schematic structure of the tutorial texts allow them to be classified as texts that instantiate the genre of procedures and (ii) that the analysis of the lexicogrammatical choices showed a predominance of the imperative mood in the command of the instructions, with alternation of the power functions (EGGINS, 2004) between the authors and the users of the tutorials, as well as the presence of the choice of modal operators fulfilling their role in modalization, or of balance between commands and instructions and solidarity between producers and users.
