This monograph aims to investigate the socio-religious transformations that took place in Flixborough between the 8th and 10th centuries. Flixborough was constituted as a rural settlement in High Medieval England, which was part of the Kingdom of Mercia and whose longevity extended from the 7th century until the 11th. At the Flixborough archaeological site, remains of forty buildings, animal remains and the largest collection of styli, tools used for writing on parchment, from an Anglo-Saxon settlement were found, which suggests the existence of monastic activity on the site. The main hypothesis of this research is that the Christianization process produced significant transformations regarding the economic, religious and cultural forms in this settlement. To this end, this research intends to analyze the styli, observing the evolution and aesthetic transformation through which these objects passed, trying to relate this to the deepening of the Christianization processes of this settlement. The zooarchaeological evidence will also be analyzed, seeking to understand the diet of the former residents of Flixborough, which, it is believed, will make it possible to recognize the pattern of settlement and trade in the region.
