filósofo e militante comunista italiano Antonio Gramsci.
The present work aims to understand how the political action of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) was presented during João Goulart's government, between December 1963 and March 1964, as well as the relationship of the party with sectors of the left wing and with Goulart himself. To carry out this work, the newspaper Novos Rumos (1958) was used as the main source of information. This periodical was created by the PCB to discuss the “new directions” of the party and the theses on the transition to a socialist revolution in Brazil. This senior thesis seeks to understand the dynamics and network that functioned as a backdrop in the final months Goulart's government, and how the relationships between the government and its leftist base were articulated in order to achieve an agenda of reforms that was anathema to the right-wing forces of the period. In addition, our analysis of the political action of the party is permeated by René Rémond’s New Political History approach, as well as Antonio Gramsci’s conceptions about the nature of the State.
