Abstract

Introduction: Mandibular Advancement Devices (Mad) Are Indicated For The Treatment Of Mild And Moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (Osa) And Dimensional Changes Of The Upper Airway (Ua) With Mad In Therapeutic Position Is Still Controversial. Objective: To Evaluate The Effect In Ua, By Cone Beam Computed Tomography Cbct, In Patients With Mild And Moderate Osa Using Mad. Method: The Sample Consisted Of 19 Volunteers (07 Men And 12 Women) Aged 27 To 62 Years; Bmi 27kg / M2 On Average; Clinical And Polysomnographic Diagnosis Of Mild And Moderate Osa (Ahi> 5/H And <30/H) With At Least One Sign And/Or Symptom Of Osa.The Patients Were Submitted To Two Evaluations: Baseline And T1 (After Treatment) And Performed The Following Procedures: Clinical / Physical Evaluation, Polysomnographic (Psg) And Concomitant Cbct. The Mad Used Was Brd (Brazilian Dental Appliance). The Continuous Data Were Represented By Mean And Standard Deviation (Sd) And Were Analyzed By The Generalized Linear Model - Generalized Estimation Equations

Introdução: Os Aparelhos Intraorais De Avanço Mandibular (Aioam) São Indicados Para O Tratamento Da Apneia Obstrutiva Do Sono (Aos) Leve E Moderada E As Modificações Dimensionais Da Via Aérea Superior (Vas) Com O Aioam Em Posição Terapêutica Ainda São Controversas. Objetivo: Avaliar As Modificações Dimensionais Da Vas, Por Meio Da Tomografia Computadorizada De Feixe Cônico (Tcfc), Em Pacientes Com Aos Leve E Moderada Em Uso Do Aioam. Método: A Amostra Foi Composta Por 19 Voluntários (07 Homens E 12 Mulheres) Com Idades Entre 27 E 62 Anos; Imc 27kg/M2 Em Média; Diagnóstico Clínico E Polissonográfico De Aos Leve E Moderada (Iah > 5/H E < 30/H) Com Pelo Menos Um Sinal E/Ou Sintoma Da Aos. Os Pacientes Foram Submetidos A Duas Avaliações: Basal E T1 (Após Atingir Protrusão Terapêutica E Em Uso Do Aio) E Realizaram Os Seguintes Procedimentos Para Avaliação: Exame Clínico/Físico, Polissonografia (Psg) E Tcfc.
