A avaliação clínica fonoaudiológica é uma etapa crucial no diagnóstico desse quadro, pois permite compreender as condições anatômicas e funcionais do sistema estomatognático.
Introduction: Cleft lip and palate (CLP) are congenital malformations resulting from the failure of structures forming the lip and palate to fuse during the early weeks of gestation. Speech-language pathology clinical evaluation is a crucial step in diagnosing this condition, as it enables the understanding of the anatomical and functional conditions of the stomatognathic system. Objective: To assist speech-language pathologists in assessing cleft lip and palate by providing guidance on how to observe and evaluate each structure and function affected by CLP. Methodology: A literature search was initially conducted, focusing on articles related to the topic, using databases such as PubMed, Scielo, and Web of Science. Based on the bibliographic review, three articles and speech-language pathology assessment protocols were selected to aid in the material's development. The material was created using a base text and public domain illustrations and was assembled using the Adobe inDesign and Canva design platform and images from PEXELS and Envato. Results: This study presents the development of a speech-language pathology assessment guide for cleft lip and palate, aiming to guide professionals in observing and evaluating the structures and functions involved in CLP and facilitate the clinical evaluation process. Conclusion: The illustrated material developed for speech-language pathologists concerning the assessment of individuals with cleft lip and palate can assist professionals across Brazil.
