O primeiro estudo “The need for procedural adaptations in the Good Behavior Game in Brazil: a narrative review to support the strategy” faz uma revisão narrativa das adaptações do Good Behavior Game implementadas em diferentes contextos internacionais, avaliando dez versões distintas.
This thesis involves the investigation and analysis of the implications of the Good Behavior Game prevention program in a school context, and more precisely, its adaptation for Brazil called Elos 2.0 Program. Amidst the demand for strategies that promote pro-social relations and reduce behavioral problems, this thesis presents two studies highlighting the importance of cultural and procedural adaptations in reinforcement-based behavioral prevention programs. These studies originated from a Randomized Controlled Trial conducted in 2019 in the state of Ceará. The first article, “The need for procedural adaptations in the Good Behavior Game in Brazil: a narrative review to support the strategy”, provides a narrative review of the adaptations of the Good Behavior Game implemented in various international contexts, evaluating ten different versions. This analysis emphasizes the trend towards the inclusion of positive reinforcement processes and introduces the Brazilian version, Elos 2.0 Program, which aims to enhance the Good Behavior Game strategy by focusing on reinforcing desired target behaviors. The article “Prosocial behavior in children involved in peer violence” addresses the relationship between pro-social behavior and peer violence, showing that children involved in dynamics of aggression, whether as aggressors or victims, exhibit a lesser inclination towards pro-social behaviors and an increase in behavioral problems. These findings reinforce the effectiveness of Elos 2.0 Program in promoting a positive school environment and highlight the importance of future longitudinal research.
