After collecting the sources, the process was followed by recording, mapping and grouping the different epistemological bases on the topic, followed by data analysis. Various damages to mental health were found, such as the emergence or worsening of psychological disorders, risk of suicide, social and family isolation, loneliness, eating disorders and digital disorders (such as Nomophobia and FOMO), body dissatisfaction, school loss and losses related to cell phone withdrawall, among others. Conclusion: It appears that the abusive use of social networks among teenagers and young adults has caused a series of negative impacts on mental health and well-being, such as psychiatric disorders, loneliness, low self-esteem, social isolation, academic and school losses, and others resulting from dangers. of the internet, such as cyberbullying. For teenagers, parental control proved effective and for young adults, digital detox brought better results. Despite this, the growing wave of diagnoses related to internet addiction also raises questions about the need for broader discernment.
