This dissertation aims to understand the meanings and meanings of the care provided by women to people in mental distress in specialized care in the socially vulnerable territory of Brejo Santo-CE. The social, family and intersubjective understanding of people and their process of mental suffering makes it possible to humanize care and reduce health incidents. With this discussion, we start from the theoretical framework of Socio-historical Psychology due to the complexity of the human condition and health, which covers psychosocial, historical and cultural aspects. The methodological path was guided by the theoretical and methodological contribution of qualitative research and data analysis was based on Depth Hermeneutics, according to (Thompson, 1995). The study presents a social and historical description based on data in academic literature, newspapers, official government bodies and reports from research collaborators. Given the context of the studied territory and with the subjects' approach, the categorization process began (Rey, 2011), by the researcher herself. The first zone of meaning describes the replacement of hospital-centered health services with the reintegration service for individuals in mental distress, which was the CAPS, and the perceptions of women in social vulnerability in the face of the determinations of social relations present in the process of illness and care, this is a moment based mainly on the theoretical references of Passos (2018). The second category delves deeper into the use of care ethics, based on Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo (2011), which is intrinsic to the subjects' actions in the illness/care process. We finished this analysis by promoting a synthesis of all stages, it was evident that vulnerabilities condition greater social inequality between men and women, especially with regard to domestic care. The narratives. collected in the research exposed the challenges of seeking care and also the potential of the Unified Health System (SUS) for caring for people in mental distress, specifically in CAPS services. This made it possible to highlight how inhumanity in health can reveal itself to the most vulnerable classes in society. Furthermore, they also highlighted the possibilities of care for the transformation and appreciation of human life.
