This monograph has as objective the localization, seriation and analysis of engravings, which present religious themes, contained in English emblem books, printed during the years from 1569 to 1612. It was a period that England went through the Religious Reformation and the consequent confessional dispute, arising from the division of the Christian faith, between Catholics and Protestants who sought ways to strengthen their spaces in society through printed materials. Among the various existing materials, we have chosen as a source specifically the emblem books for having the particular characteristic of articulating text and image to transmit a moral message that should instruct the reader. Therefore, this research aims to understand issues of the English confessional dispute through the study of religious and political engravings existing in English emblem books, that is, published in English during the specified period.
