Faced with the public emergency of COVID-19 in Brazil, this article aims to discuss the impact of social isolation on the relationship dimension of university students - which is composed by relations with relatives, friendships and love relationships of students. With that in mind, the researchers performed a qualitative research that followed the case study of 24 university students from several higher education institutions in Brazil. Along the meetings, the researchers sought to observe how the pandemic and social isolation had altered the human relationships of these students. Furthermore, the methodology adopted was a group that monitors the research (GAP), which consisted of a group of researchers who were also university students. The results demonstrated that the experiences during the pandemic were very diverse, and there is no way to point out social isolation as beneficial or harmful for the mental health of the students that were part of the research.
