Resumo
Introdução: é comum encontrarmos informações sobre a relação entre o
consumo de whey protein e seus efeitos sobre o metabolismo, influência no
intestino e na microbiota intestinal. Objetivos: Conhecer a ingestão de whey
protein por usuários e verificar a presença de manifestações gastrointestinais.
Material e Método: estudo exploratório e transversal com casuística de
conveniência que incluiu 48 indivíduos de ambos os sexos, maiores de 18 anos
que concordaram em participar do estudo, após concordância com o Termo de
Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido. Os participantes foram captados nas redes
sociais (Instagram, Facebook e WhatsApp). Os participantes responderam a um
formulário com perguntas sobre aspectos sociodemográficos, econômicos,
consumo de whey protein e manifestações gastrointestinais. Resultados: dos
respondentes, 72,9% têm entre 18 e 30 anos, com nível superior completo e,
35,4%tem renda 1 a 3 salários mínimos. Todos os participantes praticam
atividades físicas, sendo a musculação, a atividade praticada entre 5 e 6
dias/semana. Os respondentes consomem whey protein para aumentar a ingestão
proteica diária com ingestão em torno de 20 a 40 g/dia. O custo mensal do whey
protein é de R$ 50,00 a 100,00. Dentre as manifestações gastrointestinais dos
consumidores de whey protein , destacam-se a flatulência e distensão abdominal.
Conclusão: a maioria dos respondentes pertence ao público adolescente e adulto
jovem é do sexo masculino, são brancos, tem ensino superior, renda entre 1 a 3
salários mínimos, empregados de nível técnico e casados. Consomem entre 20 e
40 g/dia de whey protein /dia e manifestações gastrointestinais como, diarréia,
constipação, eructação, distensão abdominal e flatulência, se instalaram após o
consumo do whey protein.

The respondents consume whey protein to increase their daily protein intake with an intake of around 20 to 40 g/day. The monthly cost of whey protein is from R$ 50.00 to 100.00. Among the gastrointestinal manifestations of whey protein consumers, flatulence and abdominal distension stand out. Conclusion : most respondents belong to the adolescent and young adult public, are male, white, have higher education, income between 1 and 3 minimum wages, have technical level employees and are married.
