Resumo
O exercício físico traz vários benefícios na saúde da mulher, por isso é nítido
o aumento do número de mulheres no meio esportivo, na prática de exercício para a
promoção da saúde, por questões estéticas, e também para a melhora da
performance. No entanto, quando os exercícios são realizados de uma maneira
muito intensa, sem alimentação adequada, podem provocar problemas indesejados,
dentres eles, três distintos, porém inter-relacionados, problemas de saúde, os quais
são desordem alimentar, disfunções menstruais e osteoporose, que definem a tríade
da mulher atleta.
Nessa revisão, detalhamos sobre a fisiologia da mulher e suas
particularidades, as alterações fisiológicas em reposta aos exercícios crônico e
agudo. Discutimos também o conceito de tríade da mulher atleta, discutindo
detalhadamente cada problema de saúde envolvido, assim como os métodos de
diagnostico, prevenção e tratamento, com base numa revisão de literatura.
Partir das discussões prévias, foi possível concluir que os fatores que
desencadeiam a tríade podem ser evitados. Para isso, toda a equipe profissional
envolvida com mulheres atleta e fisicamente ativa, deve ter pleno conhecimento
sobre a existência desta síndrome. Para as atletas é necessário um
acompanhamento multidisciplinar durante toda sua carreira. Assim, consideramos
que o exercício físico, programado corretamente com intensidade e volume
adequados associados à uma dieta equilibrada, poder ser considerado como forma
de prevenção e tratamento da tríade da mulher atleta
The physical exercise has several benefits in women's health, so it's clear the increase in the number of women in sports, performing exercises in order to promotion health, for aesthetic reasons, and also to improve performance. However, when the exercises are performed in a very intense mode, with no proper food intake and recovery insufficient, it can cause unwanted problems, among them three distinct but inter-related health issues, which are eating disorders, menstrual disorders and osteoporosis, which defining the female athlete triad. In this review, we will go trough the women’s physiology and it’s peculiarities and physiological alteration in response to both chronic and acute exercises. We also discuss the concept of the female athlete triad, discussing in detail each health issue involved, as well as methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment, based on a literature review. We concluded that the factors that trigger the triad can be avoided. For this, all staff involved with professional athletes and physically active women should have full knowledge about the existence of this syndrome. To the athletes need a multidisciplinary follow throughout his career. We therefore consider that the exercise, scheduling correctly with appropriate intensity and volume associated with a balanced diet, can be regarded as a form of prevention and treatment of the female athlete triad, however new studies are important to assay the real importance of exercise and training upon triad.
