Introdução. O ruído ambiental, também conhecido como poluição sonora, representa riscos à saúde da população. Apesar dos efeitos auditivos da exposição serem enfatizados na maioria dos estudos, existem evidências científicas de que o ruído pode ocasionar diferentes respostas fisiológicas e psicológicas, de forma direta ou indireta. Soundscape ou Paisagem Sonora é uma área de pesquisa sobre o ambiente acústico em geral, com ênfase nos fenômenos perceptivos em que o indivíduo e/ou a sociedade estão inseridos. Desta forma, o impacto da poluição sonora na saúde da população merece a atenção de pesquisadores e deve ser considerado como um problema de saúde pública. Objetivo. Avaliar a percepção de ruído por alunos de uma Universidade Pública de São Paulo durante as atividades remotas de ensino. Método. Estudo epidemiológico do tipo transversal de inquérito em estudantes de uma Universidade Pública. O procedimento incluiu aplicação de questionário online para avaliar as percepções do ruído ambiental durante as atividades acadêmicas remotas e as queixas de saúde de estudantes. Resultados: Predominância do sexo feminino, média de idade de 22,8 anos e a maioria residente do município de São Paulo. A metade da amostra (n=62 – 50%) referiu barulho como o aspecto que mais desagrada na vizinhança e o lugar da casa referido como pior em relação ao barulho foi o quarto. Do total, 24,2% (n=30) dos entrevistados referiram que sempre escutam barulhos em casa e a maioria mencionou que o barulho atrapalha (n=113 – 91,1%). Do total, 83 (66,90%) referiram que das 7h às 19h é o período do dia em que o barulho está pior sendo que o barulho citado como mais escutado foi barulhos de vizinhos (n=87, 70,2 %). Os estudantes pontuaram que o barulho pode prejudicar no dia-dia, distraindo nos momentos de estudo 95 (76,6%), enquanto 47 (37,9%) citaram que este afeta o sono. A maioria dos entrevistados assinalaram como cerca de 80% o nível de perturbação ou irritabilidade com ruído. Distração (n=92 – 74,4%), estresse (n=74 – 59,7%) e falta de eficiência no trabalho e/ou estudo (n=79 – 63,7%), prejuízo no raciocínio n=78 – 62,9%) foram os efeitos causados pelo ruído no dia-dia mais citados entre os entrevistados. Conclusão: Os aspectos que mais desagradam no local de moradia são os barulhos principalmente provenientes da vizinhança e a localização distante do local de estudo. Os barulhos mais ouvidos dentro da moradia foram: barulhos de vizinhos tráfego de veículos e latidos e/ou barulho de animais domésticos. Em geral, os estudantes se incomodam muito com o barulho e citaram muitos efeitos negativos que prejudicam o desempenho durante as atividades de ensino, tais como: distração, estresse, falta de eficiência no estudo, prejuízo no raciocínio e falta de concentração.

Despite the auditory effects, there is scientific evidence that noise can cause different physiological and psychological responses, directly or indirectly. Soundscape is an area of research on the acoustic environment in general, with emphasis on perceptual phenomena in which the individual and/or society are inserted. Thus, the health impact of noise pollution deserves the attention of researchers and must be considered a public health problem. Objective. Evaluate noise perception among students at a Public University of São Paulo during remote teaching activities. Method. Cross-sectional epidemiological study of students at a Public University. The procedure included the application of an online questionnaire to assess perceptions of environmental noise during remote academic activities and students' health complaints. Results. Predominance of females, mean age of 22.8 years and most residents of the city of São Paulo. The majority of the sample (n=62 – 50%) mentioned noise as the aspect that most disliked in the neighborhood and the place in the house referred to as the worst in relation to noise was the bedroom. Of the total, 24.2% (n=30) reported that they always hear noises at home and most mentioned that noise interferes (n=113 – 91.1). 83 (66.90%) reported that from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm is the period when the noise is worse, and the source cited as most heard was noise from neighbors (n=87, 70.2%). Students pointed out that noise can affect their day-to-day activities, distracting them in the study moments 95 (76.6%), while 47 (37.9%) mentioned that it affects sleep. Most interviewees indicated the level of disturbance or irritability with noise as about 80%. Distraction (n=92 – 74.4%), stress (n=74 – 59.7%) and lack of efficiency at work and/or study (n=79 – 63.7%), impaired reasoning n=78 – 62.9%) were the effects caused by day-to-day noise most mentioned among the interviewees. Conclusion: The most unpleasant aspects in the place of residence are noise, mainly from the neighborhood and the location far from the study site. The noises most heard inside the house were: noise from neighbors, vehicle traffic and barking and/or noise from domestic animals. In general, students are very bothered by noise and cited many negative effects that affect performance during teaching activities, such as: distraction, stress, inefficiency in studying, impaired thinking and lack of concentration.
