Resumo
Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar os fatores que contribuem para a longevidade e o sucesso de espaços verdes comunitários na cidade de São Paulo, com foco nas hortas e composteiras. A pesquisa se baseia em quatro estudos de caso: a Horta das Corujas, a Horta das Flores, a Missão Ambiental e a Nossa Senhora da Composteira, analisando suas práticas de engajamento comunitário e os desafios enfrentados ao longo do tempo. A partir dessas experiências, o estudo destaca a importância de um propósito comum, a mobilização coletiva e uma gestão colaborativa para garantir a sustentabilidade desses espaços. Além disso, o trabalho compara as práticas adotadas nessas iniciativas com o modelo proposto pela cartilha Guia Sementes para um Bairro Sustentável e Pacífico, identificando pontos de convergência e adaptação. Os resultados indicam que o sucesso dessas iniciativas depende da construção de laços sociais, da resolução de conflitos e da promoção da educação ambiental. Este estudo oferece contribuições para o fortalecimento de práticas sustentáveis em áreas urbanas e para a promoção do engajamento social em espaços públicos.
This study aims to investigate the factors that contribute to the longevity and success of community green spaces in the city of São Paulo, focusing on urban gardens and composting initiatives. The research is based on four case studies: Horta das Corujas, Horta das Flores, Missão Ambiental, and Nossa Senhora da Composteira, analyzing their community engagement practices and the challenges faced over time. From these experiences, the study highlights the importance of a shared purpose, collective mobilization, and collaborative management to ensure the sustainability of these spaces. Furthermore, the work compares the practices adopted in these initiatives with the model proposed by the Guia Sementes para um Bairro Sustentável e Pacífico (Seeds Guide for a Sustainable and Peaceful Neighborhood), identifying points of convergence and adaptation. The results indicate that the success of these initiatives relies on building social bonds, resolving conflicts, and promoting environmental education.
