It is believed that, over the last generations of Japanese martial arts masters, there has been a silencing of contemplative practices such as meditation due to the sporting process of these arts. At the same time, however, these same contemplative practices are also being validated for new ones by gaining productivity in the capitalist logic and may be being incorporated by the logic of performance and performance. The aim of the study was to analyze the meanings given to contemplative practices within the martial arts from the perspective of their masters, as well as to understand the conditions that made possible the transformations of the discourses about such contemplative practices in martial arts of Japanese origin over three generations of masters of Judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Kendo. For this, a qualitative research of observational nature with field procedures was developed in which we approach, through a semi-structured interview, the work of masters of each described martial art who work in the Baixada Santista territory. Based on content analysis criteria, three categories were defined that circumvent the meanings and modes of existence of contemplative practices in each martial modality, namely: complementary, integrated or incorporated. It is argued that transmissibility is influenced by the generational distance from Japanese origins, but each modality has its own temporality in the processes of acculturation, whose traditional values resist the pace of graduation and/or the training of new masters. Finally, it is considered that contemplative practices are still constituent of martial arts, but are externalized from them as they become fights.
