Bodybuilding is a sport in which performance depends on volume, definition and symmetry of skeletal muscle mass, athletes after months of training and preparation go up on stage and have their physiques judged according to the objective categories. Strength training combined with a proper diet are crucial in this sport. Much information about healthy eating is easily available in the media, causing information that is not consistent with the literature to be perpetuated, such as the great importance given to protein consumption. Adherence to these behaviors results in the practice of eating habits that are scarce of important nutrients that, in the long term, affect the performance and health of individuals. This study aims to evaluate the consumption of macronutrients and micronutrients in young men who practice strength training. Data from food recalls and food records of 59 men were analyzed from the laboratory database, macro and micronutrients were quantified. Weight was measured using a digital scale and height using a vertical stadiometer. In the Multiple Source Method software the interpersonal variability was removed and the energy adjustments by a linear regression in Excel. The plausibility of the report was also made with the estimated energy requirement. For the adjustments, the recommendations of the Brazilian Society of Sports Medicine and Dietary Reference Intake were used. Consumption values below the recommendations for physical activity practitioners were found for energy, carbohydrates, mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids, dietary fiber, folate, calcium, vitamin A, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, cobalamin, vitamins K and E. Nutrients with values for adequate consumption, the recommendations were total fat, thiamine and riboflavin, while protein, iron, zinc, niacin, vitamin C and vitamin D were consumed above the recommendations. It was observed that 91.53% of the sample had underreporting. The results show that strength training practitioners have insufficient eating habits, especially in carbohydrates and vitamins, due to the exacerbated consumption of proteins, which can result in impaired performance.
