O que a Pós-Verdade pode vir a significar para a comunicação pública em sociedades democráticas? A presente pesquisa se propõe a pensar a relação entre pós-verdade e esfera pública, tendo o intuito de desenvolver uma análise investigativa acerca dos possíveis desdobramentos patológicos da incidência da post-truth communication nas condições comunicativas da esfera pública como concebida por Jürgen Habermas dentro de sua teoria de democracia deliberativa. A proposta consiste na análise dessa relação e de seu encadeamento ao processo de compartilhamento intersubjetivo de critérios de validade e legitimidade dos discursos mobilizados dentro da esfera pública. Configura-se a hipótese de que dada a confirmação do engendramento de patologias, a post-truth communication, ao incidir nas condições comunicativas da esfera pública, afeta a formação da opinião pública, a reprodução simbólica do mundo da vida e, consequentemente, a democracia deliberativa. Assim, adota-se um estudo da trajetória do conceito habermasiano, atentando-se para o seu papel crucial dentro da teoria de sua democracia. Também se sucede a análise do conceito de pós-verdade, concomitantemente, realiza-se a sua delimitação comunicativa em post-truth communication. Espera-se que o projeto ofereça um enriquecimento teórico acerca das concepções habermasianas e que também reforce o potencial explicativo da esfera pública como categoria de análise para a construção de diagnósticos do tempo presente.
What could post-truth mean for public communication in democratic societies? This research aims to study the relation between post-truth and the public sphere, aspiring to elaborate an investigative analysis of the possible pathological developments regarding the incidence of post-truth communication in the public sphere as conceived by Jürgen Habermas within his theory of deliberative democracy. We will analyze this relation and its connection to the process in which speeches' legitimacy and validity criteria are shared intersubjectively in the public sphere. We hypothesize that given the confirmation of the engendering of pathologies, post-truth communication, by influencing the communicative conditions of the public sphere, affects the formation of public opinion, the symbolic reproduction of the lifeworld, and, consequently, deliberative democracy. Therefore, this research studies the trajectory of the aforementioned Habermasian concept while recognizing its crucial role in Habermas's deliberative democracy. We also thoroughly analyze the notion of post-truth and post-truth communication. We hope this research may offer an academic enrichment regarding the habermasian theory, reinforcing the potential of the public sphere as an analytical concept that is fruitful for developing diagnoses concerning the present time.
