Resumo
The purpose of the article, which theoretically earned mainly from
contributions from Erving Goffman, was to show the reality of chronically ill students. Methodologically it was made ethnographic research with chronically ill children in a public clinic extending the observation into four school units. This process of research was structured to show the situation of some students who have many faults, and that allowed analyzing the strategies they develop to organize their schoolwork. It was explored in detail the experience of living with atopic dermatitis. The results show that significant aspects of vulnerabilities are called social buildings, especially production of stigmas. Therefore the article states in its conclusions that

O objetivo do artigo, que teoricamente se valeu principalmente das
contribuições de Erving Goffman, foi mostrar a realidade de alunos cronicamente
enfermos. Metodologicamente foi feita pesquisa etnográfica com crianças
cronicamente enfermas no cotidiano de um ambulatório público estendendo a
observação para dentro de quatro unidades escolares. Esse processo de pesquisa
foi estruturado para mostrar a situação de alguns alunos que têm muitas faltas. Isso
possibilitou analisar as estratégias que desenvolvem para organizar seus trabalhos
escolares. Foi explorada em detalhes a experiência de conviver com a dermatite
atópica. Os resultados mostram que aspectos consideráveis das chamadas
vulnerabilidades são construções sociais, especialmente a produção de estigmas.
Por isso o artigo indica, nas conclusões, que as desvantagens de crianças
cronicamente enfermas não somente, mas especialmente na escola, não resultam
apenas do desconforto que a doença crônica proporciona. Resulta principalmente da
recriação constante da vulnerabilidade quando essa criança é percebida e apontada
como diferente e, nesse sentido, é estigmatizada em decorrência da reação às
marcas que a experiência inflige ao seu corpo.

The results show that significant aspects of vulnerabilities are called social buildings,
especially production of stigmas. Therefore the article states in its conclusions that
the disadvantages of chronically ill children not only, but especially in school, do not result only from the discomfort that chronic disease provides. Mainly the result of constant recreation of vulnerability when the child is perceived and identified as
different and, accordingly, is stigmatized as a result of reaction to brands that experience inflicts to his/her body.
