Since 1995, the Central Bank of Brazil has played a regulatory role in interest rates in the credit market, making the supply of credit more competitive. The research addresses the credit market, considering variables such as the SELIC rate, credit transaction rates, with a focus on limiting rates in two products, the special check (revolving credit) and payroll loan for retirees (installment credit), both associated with vulnrable consumers. The central hypothesis is that regulation can contribute to reducing economic inequality, promoting healthy financial inclusion and avoiding debt among low-income populations.
