This study aims to understand the relevant variables for pricing pet health insurance in Brazil, with a special focus on dogs and cats. Through the investigation of veterinary studies and current regulations, the work seeks to identify the main risk variables and propose approaches for pricing pet health insurance using these variables. Using a qualitative and exploratory method, the study aims to identify relevant variables for pricing, proposes the creation of a specific database, and suggests adapting pricing models already used in other insurance segments. It was observed that models used in other insurance segments can be adapted for the pet health insurance sector. For the effective implementation and improvement of pricing models for pet health insurance, the availability of a scenario that includes real data is essential.
