Resumo
Esta pesquisa analisou o impacto das eleições presidenciais e municipais no
Brasil (2018, 2020, 2022) no desempenho dos bancos. A relação entre eventos políticos,
incertezas e o setor financeiro foi explorada, destacando padrões distintos em diferentes
contextos eleitorais. Os resultados sugerem que o setor bancário brasileiro responde
positivamente a cenários eleitorais incertos, aumentando seus empréstimos durante
esses períodos. O estudo destaca a necessidade de considerar o contexto político ao
analisar o comportamento dos bancos.
This research examined the impact of presidential and municipal elections in Brazil (2018, 2020, 2022) on the performance of banks. The relationship between political events, uncertainties, and the financial sector was explored, highlighting distinct patterns in different electoral contexts. The results suggest that the Brazilian banking sector responds positively to uncertain electoral scenarios, increasing lending during these periods. The study emphasizes the need to consider the political context when analyzing banking behavior.
