This conclusion of course work will be dedicated to the analysis of biocosmetics, exploring their role as an innovative and sustainable alternative in the Brazilian cosmetics industry. The first evidence of the production and use of cosmetics dates back to Ancient Egypt, and since then, cosmetics have been an integral part of people's daily lives, both for health and aesthetics. However, cosmetics production uses ingredients and production methods that optimize the product in several aspects, such as durability and costs, but can cause environmental and human health risks. Faced with the environmental and health challenges associated with traditional production practices, companies began research, which culminated in the emergence of biocosmetics as sustainable and healthy alternatives. Although biocosmetics do not yet have an officially established definition, several certification bodies have emerged with the purpose of standardizing and guaranteeing consumers the authenticity and safety of their formulations. Thus, the chemical industry in Brazil and globally has faced challenges in obtaining these seals and bringing technological innovations to the market, which are increasingly sought after by consumers as they are more aware of sustainability and health impacts.
