A bibliografia analisada nesta
O objetivo do estudo é analisar
The Brazilian Catholic Church is considered one of the main institutions that promoted a culture of defense of human rights in the country, especially after being the largest entity to take a stand against the military dictatorship. This performance reflected in a role of great importance in Brazilian social life, so that their influence could be felt in several aspects regarding the agenda of rights - both civil, political and social - of oppressed groups in such a historical moment. This research aims to analyze the role of the Church in the human rights agenda after such transformation, with special attention to the pastoral agents of the Indigenist Missionary Council (CIMI) and their role in defense of indigenous rights during the 1988 Constituent Assembly. This did not happen without obstacles. The defense of indigenous rights by CIMI suffers from a campaign in major newspapers in the country that associates its actions with the idea of an international conspiracy against the country. The bibliography analyzed in this research consists of publications from three newspapers in the period that most published articles with such association, such as O Estado de São Paulo, Correio Braziliense and O Globo, delimiting the articles published from December 1985 to October 1987. The aim of this study is to analyze the extent to which the materials published served as an obstacle to the indigenous and indigenist political struggle and the final result of the 1988 Constitution.
