Resumo
Social networks are increasingly present in students' daily lives and, consequently, in educational processes. In this way, research related to the subject becomes increasingly necessary and relevant. The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between adoption of the Facebook and its use in education. Were obtained 123 responses from university students who were analyzed using multivariate techniques of principal components and canonical correlation. It was verified that the use of social networks in education is due to its previous adoption in a context other than education. This suggests that platforms that are not previously adopted by students and teachers in other contexts can induce resistance to their effective use in education. This reinforces that educational institutions should encourage the use of networks already established, especially in what concerns the communication, collaboration and sharing of information and data.
