Ecological economics, which is born through Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen's critique of unbridled consumption of natural resources and the relentless pursuit of economic growth, shows that there is another, broader alternative to thinking about economics. Considering that generation Y is represented by individuals born between 1979 and 1995, the objective is to understand the perception about the consumption of urban mobility of generation Y in the city of São Paulo from the perspective of ecological economics. To this end, a questionnaire was applied covering various levels of education and income within the limits of the city of São Paulo. We start from the observation that generation Y individuals born in the 1990s have the perception that urban mobility apps contribute to sustainability. It is concluded that although few individuals have knowledge about sustainable policies, it is noted that they follow the news and assimilate, even in a very limited way, the importance of sustainable consumption.
