In addition to these, the university also helps the Kamaiurá, to the south, and the Waurá of the Aruak village. Thus, the research carried out sought to deepen the question of the relativization of both medicines based on the experience of the Xingu Project, the name given to the organization within the university that takes care of this indigenous health policy, in which doctors and health professionals come into constant contact with Amazonian indigenous populations, and must necessarily mediate cultural conceptions. This framework made it possible to formulate questions such as: Is there any kind of dialogue between doctors and shamans and shamans at some point in the treatment and prevention of diseases that plague indigenous populations? Are the doctors who come into contact with these traditional, shamanic practices affected – using the definition of FRAVET-SAADA – in any way by them? Do they allow themselves to accept the complementation that indigenous knowledge adds to biomedicine at some point in their medical practice? Are there any practical examples of the relativization of biomedicine in relation to indigenous medicines? All these questions are useful for a broader understanding of this relationship between EPM doctors and PIX indigenous people, which can lead us to new considerations about, for example, the possibility of establishing effective public policies in contexts of interethnic encounter with different knowledge. doctors.
