    Cartilha sobre bolsas e adjuvantes para pessoas com estomas de eliminação intestinal

    Introduction: Elimination stomas are surgical procedures that consist in the exteriorization of part of the digestive and urinary system, creating an opening for the elimination of feces, gases and urine to the external environment. To contain the effluent it is necessary to use bags and adjuvants. Objective: To develop a booklet on bags and adjuvants for people with intestinal elimination stomas. Methods: Descriptive, methodological study for the construction of a booklet aimed at health professionals. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of São Paulo – UNIFESP. Search for educational material with the same purpose on Google® and the Brazilian Society of Stomatherapy (SOBEST) websites to verify the originality of this study. We did not find material that presented only information about the devices for people with intestinal elimination stoma (bags and adjuvants). For the construction of the booklet, a bibliographic survey was carried out and articles that had as content themes related to devices such as bags and adjuvants for people with intestinal elimination stomas, health education and development of educational material such as booklets were included. The text was prepared and images included. Results: The booklet has 26 pages with text and illustrative images, developed to meet the needs of health professionals who work with patients with intestinal elimination stoma. Simple language was used so that the understanding of the subject could be reached, with relevant information on the subject. Contains photos that illustrate the topics and facilitate the recognition of types of stomata bags and adjuvants. Conclusion: A booklet on bags and adjuvants for people with intestinal elimination stomas was developed.

    Ostomizado: reabilitação sem fronteiras? ponto de vista do enfermeiro

    Knowing about theconcept of rehabilitationand thesemantic and philosophic meaning of the word limit (frontier), the author gives five basic propositions to justify the process of caring for rehabilitation of the ostomy patient.Concluding, the author states that this process has as limit its starting point. Therefore , it has to begin at preoperative stage. On the other hand, the limit as a point of arrival will established by the ostomy patient's motivacion and his/hercapacityofbeing involved in the self care activities and social participation. The author also declares that when rehabilitation is reached as a result of rehabilitation assistance process, it will be part ofthe dynamics of interpersonal relationships focusing on a new life style or a new social reality and, finally, as part of the process of living the ostomy person.
