There are still gaps in the factors that involve the emergence of Functional Defecation Disorders (FDD) and the types of treatment to improve the condition, and sensory reactivity problems, that is, the modulation process of neuronal activity in response to sensory stimulation, can be related to atypical defecation habits in some children with FDD. In Brazil, occupational therapists do not have a questionnaire that tracks evacuation difficulties on a sensory basis in children, as the THPQ-R proposes to assess. Objetives: Cross Cultural Adaptation of the questionnaire “Toileting Habit Profile Questionnaire - Revised (THPQ-R)” to Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: For the cross-cultural adaptation process, the method proposed by BEATON et al was used, comprising the following steps: translation, back-translation, review by the expert committee to assess equivalences and pre-test. The translation stage had 2 bilingual Portuguese/English translators, as well as the back-translation stage. The evaluation of equivalences had 5 specialists, from the health area and working with the child population. Items that obtained 80% agreement among the judges were considered as equivalent items. The pre-test was carried out with a sample n=20 (n=15 parents/guardians, n=5 Occupational Therapists), who were selected in private clinics. Results: The THPQ-R was translated from English into Portuguese by two bilingual health professionals, generating the 1st version, which was sent for back-translation. Minor word changes were necessary in the 1st version after back-translation, resulting in the 2nd version, which was again sent for backtranslation and with no disagreements, it was then sent to the expert committee, for evaluation of semantic, idiomatic, cultural and conceptual equivalences. In this 1st round, 34 items were sent for equivalence analysis, with 6 items showing a percentage of agreement below 80% in the idiomatic and semantic assessment, and 3 items in the conceptual and cultural assessment. All items were modified according to the judges' suggestions, generating the 3rd version. The 3rd version was sent to the 2nd round of evaluation and all items showed 100% agreement. The 3rd version was sent to the pre-test with the target sample of the questionnaire, and 2 parents/guardians had difficulties in understanding 1 question, it was necessary to add an example to facilitate understanding and there was a request by two parents and an occupational therapist x to that the order of a word in one of the questions was changed for better understanding. After a pre-test, both suggestions were accepted, giving rise to the final version, available in Brazilian Portuguese. Conclusion: The study makes available the Portuguese version adapted for the Brazilian culture of the THPQ-R questionnaire, which was renamed the “Questionnaire on the Profile of Bathroom Habits”, which maintains the number of items and structure of the original questionnaire.

Métodos: O processo de adaptação incluiu a tradução das escalas, a síntese das versões, a retrotradução e a avaliação de um comitê de especialistas em psicometria e transtornos ansiosos. Posteriormente, foi realizado um estudo piloto com pessoas que reportaram sintomas de ansiedade social, seguido de um estudo com uma amostra da população geral para análise de evidências preliminares de validade e confiabilidade das escalas. As análises estatísticas incluíram o Coeficiente de Validade de Conteúdo (CVC) e a análise fatorial confirmatória. Resultados: As escalas apresentaram alta consistência interna e validade de conteúdo, com o CVC superior a 0,90. A análise fatorial confirmatória indicou uma estrutura robusta, evidenciando a adequação dos itens ao construto de ansiedade social. Conclusões: As escalas EMAP e EBMAN-D mostraram-se instrumentos psicométricos válidos e confiáveis para investigar o medo de avaliação em indivíduos com transtorno de ansiedade social no Brasil, sendo úteis tanto para a pesquisa quanto para a prática clínica.
