Resumo
Este estudo tem como finalidade compreender a maternidade, especificamente, a
maternidade como um dos papéis centrais da mulher, exigidos no âmbito das
relações sociais que contribui para a maternidade compulsória. Embora os
movimentos feministas do século XX, principalmente na corrente do feminismo
igualitário, tenham lutado e colaborado para as mudanças da condição da mulher
perante a maternidade, concomitantemente às mudanças socioeconômicas que
contribuíram para a ampliação do espaço da mulher na sociedade, exercendo não
apenas as atividades domésticas, mas também tornando-se parte da classe
trabalhadora, a pressão social para que exerça o papel de mãe ainda persiste nos
dias atuais. Buscou-se analisar as construções históricas e sociais definidoras do
conceito de maternidade dividindo o presente trabalho em dois capítulos. O caminho
utilizado na metodologia deu-se por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica, ou seja, foram
utilizados registros como artigos, livros e teses de autores que contribuíram com a
temática levantando informações sobre o conceito de maternidade para análise do
fenômeno na vida das mulheres articulando com os conteúdos teóricos estudados. A
partir disso, esta pesquisa visa compreender as determinações sociais que destinam
o papel de mãe para a mulher e os direitos das mulheres de recusarem a
maternidade como único destino possível. Considerando a análise realizada viu-se
necessário a busca pela autonomia reprodutiva possibilitando a todas as mulheres
direitos sobre seus próprios corpos podendo decidir conscientemente a realização,
ou não, da maternidade.
This study aims to understand motherhood, specifically, motherhood as one of the central roles of women, required in the context of social relationships that contribute to compulsory motherhood. Although the feminist movements of the 20th century, mainly in the current of egalitarian feminism, have fought and collaborated for changes in the condition of women in the face of motherhood, concomitantly with the socioeconomic changes that contributed to the expansion of women's space in society, exercising not only the domestic activities, but also becoming part of the working class, the social pressure to play the role of mother still persists today. We sought to analyze the historical and social constructions that define the concept of motherhood, dividing the present work into two chapters. The path used in the methodology was through bibliographic research, that is, records such as articles, books and theses of authors who contributed to the theme by raising information about the concept of motherhood to analyze the phenomenon in the lives of women articulating the theoretical contents studied. From this, this research aims to understand the social determinations that assign the role of mother to women and the rights of women to refuse motherhood as the only possible destination. Considering the analysis carried out, it was necessary to search for reproductive autonomy, allowing all women rights over their own bodies, being able to consciously decide whether or not to carry out motherhood.
