A exploração do potencial desse campo de atuação
Assim, a ciência
(Introdução à Biotecnologia; Biologia Molecular e Celular Aplicadas à Biotecnologia;
Bioquímica Aplicada à Biotecnologia; Genômica, Proteômica e Engenharia Genética;
Métodos e Técnicas de Pesquisa Aplicadas à Biotecnologia; Técnicas de Cultura Celular
Aplicadas a Biotecnologia; Experimentação Animal; Microbiologia Aplicada a
Biotecnologia; Abordagem Biotecnológica da Oncologia; Farmacologia Aplicada à
Biotecnologia: Prospecção de Biofármacos; Neurociências Aplicada à Biotecnologia;
Biomateriais, Células Tronco e Engenharia de Tecidos; Prospecção de Vacinas;
Bioinformática; Nanotecnologia; Biossegurança, Bioética e Legislação em Biotecnologia;
apresentados nestes anais.
The Postgraduate Course in Biotechnology, Lato Sensu, is based on the global expansion of the professional field that seeks the development of innovative biotechnological products and processes. The exploration of the potential in this field requires skilled professionals who can study and develop technologies for the use of living organisms or their products to produce goods and services, which is the very definition of biotechnology. Thus, this course aims to meet part of the market demand for specialized professionals capable of working in various areas of biotechnology, driving science and the economy, as well as creating opportunities for the country's development. It is worth noting that Brazil's biotechnological research has global recognition, as evidenced by the increase in the number and importance of scientific publications, patents, and the number of excellence centers. Additionally, our biodiversity and extensive coastline point towards bioeconomy as a vocation of the country. Therefore, the Postgraduate Course in Biotechnology aims to train professionals to carry out actions that can result in the development of innovative biotechnological products and processes, stimulate the efficiency of the national productive structure, the innovation capacity of Brazilian companies, the ability to absorb technologies, the generation of business, and the expansion of exports. The objective is to provide a solid academic program of training in the field of Biotechnology, with an emphasis on a dynamic curriculum and an interdisciplinary conceptual approach. Thus, science is emphasized as a process, aiming to train professionals prepared to develop basic and applied knowledge, conducting research or carrying out professional activities that generate socially and industrially relevant products and processes in Biotechnology, within national and international quality frameworks. For this purpose, the postgraduate students must complete 19 theoretical-practical modules (Introduction to Biotechnology; Molecular and Cellular Biology Applied to Biotechnology; Biochemistry Applied to Biotechnology; Genomics, Proteomics, and Genetic Engineering; Research Methods and Techniques Applied to Biotechnology; Cell Culture Techniques Applied to Biotechnology; Animal Experimentation; Microbiology Applied to Biotechnology; Biotechnological Approach to Oncology; Pharmacology Applied to Biotechnology: Prospecting of Biotherapeutics; Neuroscience Applied to Biotechnology; Biomaterials, Stem Cells, and Tissue Engineering; Vaccine Prospecting; Bioinformatics; Nanotechnology; Biosafety, Bioethics, and Legislation in Biotechnology; Intellectual Property and Patents; Business and Entrepreneurship Applied to Biotechnology; Scientific Research Methodology), in addition to developing a Final Paper. The last can be produced in three different formats: literature review, scientific outreach video, or original study. The Final Papers prepared by the third class of the Specialization Course in Biotechnology (2022- 2023) are presented in these proceedings.
