Introduction: Skin quality deteriorates with age for several reasons, including hormonal deficiencies. In women, the decline in estrogen levels during menopause plays an important role in skin degeneration. Research has shown beneficial effects of topical phytoestrogen in prevention and repair of skin aging, with localized action and without side effects. Thus, the idea of developing a topical product with the aim of localized hormone replacement for women in perimenopause was postulated. Objective: To develop a phytoestrogen-based cosmetic for prevention and treatment of skin aging in perimenopausal women. Method: Design Thinking and Patent Canvas methodologies were used for the development of the cosmetic. In the Design Thinking methodology, a narrative literature review was carried out. Studies were identified by searching electronic databases LILACS, Medline, Web of Science, Scopus and SciELO databases, with DECS-BVS descriptors. A patent research was carried out in electronic databases (INPI, Google Patents, Latipat, Espacenet, Patentscope and Uspto) to verify the existence of similar patented products. In addition, a questionnaire directed to perimenopausal women was carried out. It was made to obtain information and suggestions from possible users of the product. Finally, after prototyping and validation, the cosmetic was developed. In the Patent Canvas methodology, the feasibility of the product development, production and patentability process was studied. Results: All the information obtained was compiled and the cosmetic prototyping was completed. In addition, the Patent Canvas was completed, containing information relevant to a future business plan. Conclusion: A phytoestrogen-based cosmetic was developed for prevention and treatment of skin aging.
