Brazilian elites have played a very complex role from a political and ideological point of view throughout history and especially in Brazil. This project aims to understand how this elite acted in the context that promoted the Bolsonaro government, which was elected after intense movements since the June 2013 Journeys, the demonstrations during the World Cup, the reelection of Dilma Rousseff, the contestation of the results by the PSDB, the protests for and against the impeachment request, the fall of Dilma, the Temer government and the 2018 elections. Understanding this process requires an analysis of the movements that preceded it, as well as the consequences propagated from then on; the hypothesis is that this sequence of events is linked to the interests of the Brazilian elite in demobilizing social movements, even betting on a candidacy (Bolsonaro) that represented a threat to democratic institutions, but that would serve the final objective. From this situation, the present research aims to create a list of justifications for the electoral period, linked to some concepts of Political Theory. The temporal cut addresses the Bolsonaro government and seeks to bring the correlation of this government with Bonapartism, thus theoretically investigating the tactics of legitimizing power in politics. The theoretical bases are: theory of elites, sociological analysis of the Brazilian elite (Jessé de Souza) and Bonapartism applied to the Brazilian case.
