animais explorar as condições locais.
The occupation of contrasting thermal environments by organisms occurs in parallel with the emergence of phenotypic traits that allow animals to exploit local conditions. Thus, the observation of patterns of phenotypic variation in response to temperature at lower hierarchical levels allows us to understand the plastic potential of a given trait. In this research project we intend to investigate how the thermal performance curves (CDT) of the glycolytic and aerobic pathways are related to the characteristics of the mode of locomotion in Tropidurus tarara lizards (family Tropiduridae). To this end, we constructed CDTs of enzymes that act in the glycolytic and aerobic pathways in two skeletal muscles, and tested the hypothesis that the aerobic pathway is specific with respect to temperature than the glycolytic pathway.
