    Comparação entre treinamento cardiovascular versus treinamento de exercício resistido na melhora da qualidade de vida e capacidade funcional em pacientes com lúpus eritematoso sistêmico: ensaio clínico randomizado

    Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an inflammatory, chronic, autoimmune disease that negatively impacts the patient’s quality of life. This double-blind randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy of cardiovascular training (CT) with resistance training (RT) in improving the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and physical function of SLE patients. Sixty-three patients of both sexes, aged 42.9  14.4 years with a mean body mass index of 28.7  10.6 kg/m2, disease duration of 3.8  3.3 years, and not physically active participated in the study. The participants were randomly allocated to either the CT group (n = 20), RT group (n = 22), or control group (n = 21). HRQoL was assessed using the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36), severity of depression was measured with the Beck Depression Inventory, disease activity by the SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI), and aerobic capacity by a 12-minute walk test (T12). The weight, height, and amount and type of medication used by the participants were also recorded. CT was superior to RT in improving HRQoL. There was no significant difference in physical function between intervention groups, except in aerobic capacity. Both training programs were not associated with changes in disease activity.

    Lúpus eritematoso sistêmico bolhoso associado à nefrite lúpica: relato de dois casos

    Bullous systemic lupus erythematosus is recognized as a distinct entity related to autoimmunity to type VII collagen. In some cases, the flare of bullous disease coincides with the exacerbation of systemic lupus erythematosus, and especially lupus nephritis. Two cases of young female patients with vesiculobullous eruption on sun-exposed and non-exposed areas associated to lupus nephritis are described. Diagnosis was proved by characteristic histopathology and direct immunofluorescence. Corticosteroids and dapsone therapy may be effective.
