The Goal of this study is to evaluate the individual?s balance, the fear of falling and correlate them to the domestic environmental hazard. Methodology: It is an observational analytical study in the transversal cut. Observing the inclusion and exclusion criteria of this study, 306 elderly of both genders were evaluated, with an average age of 66.5 years old. Elderly were evaluated regarding the Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Falls Efficacy Scale ? International in Brazilian elderly (FES-IBRASIL), Self-Evaluation Scale of Functional Capacity SPIRDUSO, Environmental Scale of Falls Hazard, International Physical Activity Questionnaire ? IPAQ and the presence of depression symptoms. Results: The study demonstrated moderate correlation between the variables FES-I-BRASIL and Self-Evaluation Scale of Functional Capacity, as well as between the variables FES-I-BRASIL and BBS to the feminine gender, although this has not been one of our goals. Regarding the correlation between FES-I-BRASIL and Environmental Scale of Falls Hazard there was a weak positive correlation. Between BBS and Environmental Scale of Falls Hazard our study demonstrated a weak negative correlation. To BBS 64% of the evaluated elderly has shown to be prone to falls; with regard to the fear of falling evaluated by FES-I-BRASIL, the sporadic association to falls and to reoccurring fallings they were respectively 46% and 13% which, when added, 59% indicated more than half of the studied population. Conclusion: Elderly presented a balance deficit and fear of falling. The evaluated houses presented a slow risk of falls, even though it has prevailed the lack of slip resistant area, support bars and sentinel light.
