    No Limite da Lei: uma análise do imaginário do Partido Socialista Brasileiro a cerca do trabalhador como um ser político no período 1947-1954

    With the end of the Estado Novo dictatorship, Brazil entered a phase of redemocratization, in which Dutra, supported by Vargas, was eventually elected president. Although the Dutra government was authoritarian, it did not manage to completely impede workers' freedom to claim, and many of them criticized the corporatist-based labor legislation created by Getúlio Vargas. In this context, the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) emerged, which, through its party press, the Folha Socialista newspaper, not only sought to take its ideology to the working masses, but also called on the working class to fight for various changes in social legislation. This monograph takes an approach that covers the period 1947-1954, with the objective of analyzing the imaginary of the PSB about the worker as a political being. For that, the research used as sources, above all, the newspaper Folha Socialista and also medical records of militants prepared by the Delegacia de Ordem Política e Social (DEOPS). In addition, due to the fact that the PSB is ideologically opposed to the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB), it was considered pertinent, in order to carry out a comparison for a better understanding of the object of study in question, to also use as central sources the communist periodicals Hoje and Today's News. Thus, through this analysis, it was possible to perceive how the socialist association, criticizing the corporate union legislation, fought for the workers' movement to be in fact autonomous.

    Trabalhadoras, uni-vos! : identidade de classe e gênero das operárias da indústria têxtil em São Paulo e São Bernardo nas décadas de 1930 e 1950

    By focusing on Sao Paulo?s textile industry ? which, besides its large number of women, was also going through its golden age under Vargas? government ?, this work firstly aims to understand how the working weavers of Sao Paulo and Sao Bernardo built their class and gender identities. Subsequently, it seeks to analyze how the construction of these multiple identities have influenced these women?s organization and demands, concerning what they saw as their own rights during Vargas? Context. In this sense, the research purpose is to understand the fight and the organization of these weavers in their work environment, both through official documents, among them, what the current labor laws had established concerning women?s work in that period; as well as how the popular press portrayed the reaction. Other important sources were the repression, the DEOPS, and interviews with former workers.
