It is based on the belief that teachers will tend to develop current pedagogical practice of a better quality by maintaining an historical relationship with past educational practices of their professional ancestors. Consequently, this study will answer the following questions: what history of mathematics education could be included in training of math teachers? To answer this question, the theoretical and methodological background of Cultural History will be used. Through the history of mathematics education, teachers may become aware of processes and curricular models for the teaching of mathematics that have been circulating historically at an international level, acquiring a meaning at specific times and places.
