Therefore, the research converges on the question of how the European Parliament and the European Council, both institutions of the European Union, understand and build legislative and legal commitments to combat human trafficking for sexual exploitation. For this, using as a cut-off date the approval of the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, in 2006, until today, the research aims to understand the possible contemporary phenomenon of securitization of the issue and how this hurts the protection and guarantee of rights for victims involved in the crime. With this, the present research proposes to follow a descriptive and explanatory profile, in order to understand and define primordial terms about the theme, as well as to study and describe the official documents of the European Union institutions related to the policy of combating trafficking in persons for sexual exploitation, tracing the profile of the commitments presented by the bloc and comparing its data with the data presented by the main anti-trafficking NGOs active in the region. Based on the results gathered in this process, the research proposes not only to define the mold and nature of the bloc's anti-crime and victim protection policies, but also to understand the causes of their construction.
