It considers as research subjects three students who attended the practical course on early childhood education with children aged from one year and nine months to three years. The work aims to analyze the understanding of these three students on the pedagogical practices planned to this children group. As methodology we developed semi-structured interviews and a study of blog daily posts where the students wrote during the period who attended the course. The family and children of these students, as well as socialization in the family and friends groups during their childhood and their conditions of life inform immensely about how they made choices throughout life course. These instances influenced in their occupation choice. Regarding the early childhood education, the students considered their personal experiences and professional knowledge acquired at UNIFESP to analyzed their experience with teaching. Likewise, when speaking of children, students incorporated elements of childhood, their family, their career choice, their knowledge of early childhood education and the knowledge learned at UNIFESP. All these elements work together in a special way for each of them, building their own knowledge and values about pedagogical practices. The work aims to present results that constitute and form the pedagogic practice with small children considering the students` views, contributing not only for future teachers` training, but also for the improvement of young children`s education.
