Objective: to evaluate the otolytic function by comparing the findings of SVV, cVEMP and oVEMP in patients in the intercritical period of unilateral defined MD. Method: The sample, consisting of an experimental group (n=22; 15 male and 17 female, with mean age of 38,7 ± 6,3 years) of unilateral defined MD and a control group (n=14; 5 male and 9 female, with mean age of 41,64 ± 13,45 years), was submitted to vestibular evaluation by means of SVV with the bucket method, cVEMP and oVEMP. The data were tabulated and submitted to statistical analysis. Results: The results of the SVV, evaluated by group of ears or by individuals, and those of cVEMP, oVEMP and cVEMP + oVEMP showed no significant difference, indicating that there was no disagreement among them. The group of ears with absence of oVEMP presented longer disease duration than the group with presence of oVEMP. Conclusion: SVV abnormalities combined with those of cVEMP and oVEMP and the agreement or disagreement between SVV findings and some parameters of cVEMP and oVEMP indicate that the complementary association of SVV with cVEMP and oVEMP contributes to improve the recognition of otolithic dysfunction in the intercritical period of unilateral defined Menière's disease.
