- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Adequação dos descritores em Ciências da Saúde para a indexação de dissertações acadêmicas, na área de doenças respiratórias(Sociedade Brasileira de Pneumologia e Tisiologia, 1999-12-01) Rosas, Patrícia; Guimarães, Carlos Alberto; Júdice, Luiz Felippe; Pereira, Carlos Alberto de Castro [UNIFESP]; Válio, Else Benetti Marques; Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro Instituto de Doenças do Tórax; Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas; Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro; Universidade Federal Fluminense; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas Departamento de Pós-Graduação em BiblioteconomiaINTRODUCTION: The process of indexing consisted of two phases: firstly, to identify and represent the intellectual contents of a document; and secondly, the translation of the subject analysis into a specified language, with the aid of key words. At the Instituto de Doenças do Tórax da UFRJ medical library, the indexing was performed through a controlled vocabulary - the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). The purpose of this study was to identify if the authors' subject headings were adequate for indexing Master's degree theses and dissertations on respiratory diseases. METHOD: The key words of 29 Master theses and dissertations, from 1990 through 1996, were studied. RESULTS: The data collection showed that 29 authors employed 101 key words (3.48 headings/author). Among the 101 key words, 47 (47%) were adequate. CONCLUSION: Forty-seven per cent of the key words employed, on Master's degree theses and dissertations on respiratory diseases (IDT-UFRJ, 1990-1996), were adequate.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Avaliação de descritores na angiologia e cirurgia vascular em artigos publicados em dois periódicos nacionais(Sociedade Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento da Pesquisa em Cirurgia, 2003-01-01) Oliveira, Eymard Francisco Brito De [UNIFESP]; Oliveira, Heriberto Brito De; Azevedo, João Luiz Moreira Coutinho [UNIFESP]; Fagundes, Djalma José [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Membro Efetivo da Sociedade Brasileira de Angiologia e Cirurgia Vascular; Universidade Vale do Rio Verde de Três Corações Mestre e Doutorando em Educação; Faculdade de Ciências Médicas de Minas Gerais Médico Residente em Cirurgia Cardiovascular da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Belo HorizonteMeSH - indexed internet health directories must provide a fast and safety research of the scientific information. Otherwise, for this purpose, it is necessary that the authors choose the adequate and available headings. Our research goal is to explore two brazilian vascular medical journals from the headings included in MEDLINE and LILACS documents and determine how well the authors were using the medical subject headings. The Medline and Lilacs database were searched from published 1996 to 2000 and queried with the list of DeCs 2001(MeSH Portuguese version) and MeSH 1994. We describe here that about 186 articles were reviewed, in two journals of the speciality and found that most of them were out of the standard terms suggested by the MeSH. We concluded, despite the indexation must be a dynamic performance, the authors must be better informed about the rules of inclusion of new headings and how to apply the adequate key words.
