PTSID outpatients from a program of victims of violence and subjects identified in an epidemiological survey conducted in the city of São Paulo completed a battery of validated instruments and the CAPS. Instrument reliability and validity were measured. the comparison between the CAPS scores and the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM IV (SCID) interview resulted in the following validity coefficients: sensitivity = 90%, specificity = 95%, and misclassification rate = 7.1%. the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.97. There was a positive correlation between CAPS scores with Beck Depression Inventory (BDI; 0.70) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI; 0.76) scores. the Kappa coefficients were all higher than 0.63 for all CAPS items. the internal consistency for all CAPS items resulted in a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.97. the CAPS showed to be both an accurate and a reliable research instrument to identify PTSD cases in a civilian population. - ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Adaptation, confirmatory factor analysis, and psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Repetitive Eating Questionnaire(Wiley, 2023-03-25) Teodoro, Marília Consolini; Conceição, Eva M.; Sinval, Jorge [UNIFESP]; Lourdes, Marta de; Neufeld, Carmem Beatriz; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9227052078286181; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0570873198760650; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7836902599834751Objective The Repetitive Eating Questionnaire (Rep(eat)-Q) is a brief self-report measure developed to assess grazing behavior—an understudied problematic eating behavior associated with eating disorder psychopathology and poor weight management. This study aimed to adapt and test the psychometric properties and factor structure of the Rep(eat)-Q in a Brazilian community sample. Method We used the International Test Commission guidelines for the adaptation of psychological measures between cultures. Participants were recruited from the community and on a university campus and completed a set of questionnaires including the Rep(eat)-Q, psychological measures, and sociodemographic data. Results A total of 718 (86.4% female) completed the Rep(eat)-Q and were eligible for the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Only 542 completed the entire survey (Rep(eat)-Q and other psychological measures) and were eligible for the analysis of the validity evidence based on the relations to other variables. CFA revealed support for a two first-order model as originally proposed, however, a hierarchical (i.e., second-order) model is proposed. We found support for second-order scalar invariance across sex. Both first- and second-order internal consistency estimates presented very good evidence. Analysis (n = 542) revealed moderate to strong correlations (≥.58 to .77) between grazing (total score and subscales) and binge eating and other psychological measures, presenting good convergent evidence. Discussion This study reports good psychometric properties of the Rep(eat)-Q for the Brazilian community sample. Public Significance Grazing is a problematic eating behavior and the Rep(eat)-Q is one of the measures to assess grazing. The article aimed to adapt and test the psychometric properties of the Rep(eat)-Q in a Brazilian community sample. The results support a two-factor structure and suggest that the Rep(eat)-Q possesses good psychometric properties to be used with the Brazilian populations.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosPsychometric and discriminative properties of the Teen Addiction Severity Index (Brazilian Portuguese version)(Springer, 2009-11-01) Sartes, Laisa Marcorela A. [UNIFESP]; De Micheli, Denise [UNIFESP]; Souza-Formigoni, Maria Lucia O. [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)In this study we evaluated the internal consistency of the Brazilian Portuguese version of Teen Addiction Severity Index (T-ASI) and validated its substance use area. Evaluating 100 psychoactive substance abusers/dependent adolescents (SUD) and 108 adolescents without such diagnosis (NON-SUD), we found good correlations between the classification by the Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI, used as gold standard) and the severity (r = 0.73) and composite (r = 0.72) scores of the T-ASI. the area under the ROC curve was 0.88, showing a satisfactory correct classification rate. the internal consistency, evaluated by Cronbach's alpha coefficients, was considered good regarding the substance use (0.89), legal (0.81), and psychiatric (0.80) areas of the T-ASI. the Brazilian Portuguese version of T-ASI presented good internal consistency and a valid substance use area. A comparison between the groups regarding the answers to each question in all the areas was conducted in order to identify which questions in the T-ASI discriminate SUD from NON-SUD adolescents, to have a basis for the proposal of a shorter version of the instrument.

A convenient sample of 162 HD patients was included in this descriptive, cross-sectional study. The DUREL-F and SCS-F exhibited acceptable internal consistency and stability reliability, as well as excellent content and construct validity. The findings confirmed the soundness of the psychometric properties of the two scales. Thus, they can be used for timely and accurate assessment of religiosity and spiritual coping utilization among Filipino patients receiving HD.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Psychometric properties of EURO-D, a geriatric depression scale: a cross-cultural validation study(Biomed Central Ltd, 2015-02-05) Guerra, Mariella; Ferri, Cleusa [UNIFESP]; Llibre, Juan; Matthew Prina, A.; Prince, Martin; Inst Memory Depress & Dis Risk; Kings Coll London; Peruvian Univ; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Med Univ HavanaBackground: Many of the assessment tools used to study depression among older people are adaptations of instruments developed in other cultural setting. There is a need to validate those instruments in low and middle income countries (LMIC).Methods: A one-phase cross-sectional survey of people aged [greater than or equal to] 65 years from LMIC. EURO-D was checked for psychometric properties. Calibration with clinical diagnosis was made using ICD-10. Optimal cutpoint was determined. Concurrent validity was assessed measuring correlations with WHODAS 2.0.Results: 17,852 interviews were completed in 13 sites from nine countries. EURO-D constituted a hierarchical scale in most sites. the most commonly endorsed symptom in Latin American sites was depression; in China was sleep disturbance and tearfulness; in India, irritability and fatigue and in Nigeria loss of enjoyment. Two factor structure (affective and motivation) were demonstrated. Measurement invariance was demonstrated among Latin American and Indian sites being less evident in China and Nigeria. At the 4/5 cutpoint, sensitivity for ICD-10 depressive episode was 86% or higher in all sites and specificity exceeded 84% in all Latin America and Chinese sites. Concurrent validity was supported, at least for Latin American and Indian sites. Conclusions: There is evidence for the cross-cultural validity of the EURO-D scale at Latin American and Indian settings and its potential applicability in comparative epidemiological studies.
