A qualitative approach incorporating the "oral history of life," based on the theory of José Carlos Sebe B. Meihy was used to understand the dynamics of everyday work. Interviews was conducted with ten workers, which were transcribed and analyzed in full. The methods of Pope (2009) were used to identify three analytical categories: (1) the fears and dreams and that contributed to differences that emerged; (2) how conflicts and differences were addressed and; (3) the space for expression of subjectivity. Results showed that discussing the issue of changes within the context of health organizations means considering individuals with their uniqueness, without denying the subjectivity and suffering caused by work. In addition, results showed that the use of management systems that promoted collective creation, inclusion and appreciation of the process of change formed the background of new proposals. The present research demonstrates the relevance of understanding of group process that provides a means for evaluating the limits and possibilities of organizational change.
