In this proposal we seek to understand the concept of education, expressed in his writings and what role in this education project (re) organization policy proposed by Torres in the early twentieth century. From this interpretive panorama, set for this study three areas of research aimed at developing an analysis of representations of education expressed by Alberto Torres. For it will resume some considerations about the field of study - and debate - formed by the work and by the figure of Torres, which permeates various contexts and approaches throughout the twentieth century. Away from the pretense to account for this field will be displayed as the main paths traveled by studies in order to locate our analysis. The second axis passes the observation of written Alberto Torres, taken here as their production - written, between 1900 and 1917, selected by relevance to understand their educational representations. Thus, not only treat their books. In the last axis is intended to identify what can be interpreted as a program and / or an educational policy designed by Alberto Torres for the Brazilian society of the early twentieth century.
